Tuberculosis Exposure - Helping You Get Compensated for Hospital Negligence
As reported by CNN(Click here to view)an El Paso Hospital is facing consequences for alleged hospital negligence after hundreds of infants and dozens of hospital workers were exposed to tuberculosis (TB) by an infected nursery worker between September 2013 and August 2014.
The El Paso Times reported that the nursery worker tested positive for active TB in August 2014 and was put on leave, but around 850 infants had been exposed to TB by the worker over the previous year. As of September 2014, five of those infants tested positive for inactive TB. CNN reported that the hospital would offer treatment at no cost.
Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso is now under scrutiny for negligence, since the worker went nearly a full year before they were tested and found to have an active case of TB, which is the contagious and sometimes deadly kind. The worker should have been screened for dangerous and contagious diseases before being allowed to work in the hospital's nursery and postpartum unit.
